One of the most common questions we hear is: “Should I choose electrolysis or laser hair removal?”
The answer depends on your hair type, skin tone, and treatment goals.
Truly Permanent Hair Removal
Since 1875, electrolysis has remained the only FDA-approved method for permanent hair removal. The process involves gently inserting a fine, sterile probe into the hair follicle and applying a small electrical current, which is precisely adjusted based on the hair type and treatment area. This current effectively destroys the germinative cells responsible for hair growth, preventing the hair from returning.
Unlike laser hair removal, which is limited by hair and skin color, electrolysis is successful on all hair colors—including blonde, gray, red, and white—and all skin tones, from light to dark. If you have light or gray hair, or darker or tanned skin, electrolysis is the most effective and truly permanent hair removal solution available.
Laser hair removal, on the other hand, is best suited for individuals with very light skin and dark hair. It can be a good option for treating larger areas like the legs or bikini line. However, laser treatments only offer hair reduction, not permanent removal. Many clients still require maintenance treatments over time.
